Information of BFLS-BFSU

 

    Beijing Foreign Language School, Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFLS-BFSU) was first founded in 1959. The school specialized in foreign language teaching had cultivated lots of talents with high levels of proficiency in foreign languages. The late Chinese leaders Premier Zhou Enlai and vice Premier Chen Yi had provided great care and support to the school. BFLS-BFSU was closed in 1988 due to constitutional reorganization. It was re-opened in 2002 as a full-time boarding school offering primary and secondary education with the approval of the Beijing Education Commission. Professor Peng Long, the vice-President of Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), is the head of the board of directors of BFLS-BFSU. Professor Chen Lin, a well-known English educator, acts as the consultant for BFLS-BFSU. Mr. Chen Yun, an associate professor from BFSU, is the administrative vice-principal of BFLS-BFSU.

    As the sponsor and direct superior of BFLS-BFSU, BFSU recently invested millions of dollars to renovate the campus, ensuring first-class facilities, including classrooms equipped with computer labs, language labs, a modern library, a gymnasium and residential halls, which provide the students with an excellent and comfortable living and learning environment. The new campus occupies an area of more than 75,000 square meters with a construction area of 70,000 square meters and can hold up to 3,000 students. 

    BFLS is committed to ¡°multilingual, high-quality integration of the primary, middle, and high school¡± in which the faculty will implement a well-rounded education for the students. Students are sure to develop important skills and extraordinary knowledge of life. Using the educational resources of BFSU as a base, BFLS-BFSU aims to become a modern international school providing high quality in the education of foreign languages. Apart from the compulsory courses for primary and secondary school required by the state, with its own characteristics, the school offers middle school students German, Spanish and special English courses. Students learning German or Spanish have the opportunity to enter universities in Germany or Spain to further their education. Students in the International Class will enter BFSU to take a one year preparation course. They are then able to go to the University of Kent or Staffordshire University in the UK or the University of Queensland in Australia£¬respectively, to earn a bachelor¡¯s degree. The students can also take part in the China-Cornell College Preparatory Program(CCCPP) and the Program of Global Access (PGA) which can help them enter hundreds of universities in the United States upon graduation.

    BFLS-BFSU is striving to promote cultural exchange programs between Chinese and foreign students. The school plans to cooperate with overseas schools and universities, enabling the students to enter overseas universities, whilst encouraging overseas students to study at the school.
