为弘扬北外附校第八届科技节的精神，12月5日中午，我校全体初二年级师生齐聚二阶，开展了别开生面的“科技”主题英语演讲比赛。

参加演讲比赛决赛的选手为全年级各班筛选出的代表各一名。演讲的内容涉及到当代科技的方方面面，可谓各有千秋。三班任伯远的“Carbon Fibre”，他介绍了碳纤维作为一种高科技含量的材料在生活、交通工具以及体育器材等方面的应用；四班边鹏文的“The Smart Factory”介绍了奥迪工厂的高科技化运作模式；五班王卫青以“Quantum Teleportation”为题介绍了量子学的知识；七班范清文的题目为“Solar Energy”。他讲解了太阳能为人们带来的各方面的便利以及可开发的潜能等等。激烈的演讲感染了现场每一位观众。

此次演讲比赛点燃了同学们心中对科技的激情和对未来的期待，也让同学们用英语了解和学习了当今世界的科技，培养了创新科技思维。同学们表示要发愤图强，将来为祖国的科技发展贡献力量。

学生感想：

“First，welcome to the speech competition of the future of science and technology. Today we are going to take you into the future world and experience advanced technology.“The host Li yutong begin the competition with a loud voice. Then the contestants begin to be put on a  serious and patient look on their face. “So, let’s welcome the first contestants Laura, from class 2 grade 8 to give us a speech.”

“首先，欢迎在座的各位来参加关于未来科技发展的演讲比赛，今天我们将要带大家进入未来世界，体验先进科技。”主持人李雨桐用响亮的声音拉开了演讲比赛的序幕，参赛选手们也变得严肃认真起来。“首先，让我们欣赏来自初二二班的杨乐陶的演讲”。

Laura took the microphone and step forward confidently. She stood in the middle of the stage and bowed deeply, ’Today I will talk about………, So…..’ Laura talked about what cells are, and the applications to cells today and what she imagines a series of applications for the future. Her speech deeply attracted me and brought me a new understanding of future technologies and cells.

杨乐陶接过麦克风，自信的走到台中央，深深鞠了一躬，然后开始了演讲。杨乐陶主要介绍了细胞是什么，以及现代科技对细胞的应用与她自己想象到的一系列的关于细胞在未来各领域的应用。她的演讲深深地吸引了我，给我带来了一个对未来科技以及细胞的全新认识。

What impressed me deeply was Liu Yuen's speech. His speech skills were obviously higher than those of other contestants. He used his booming voice to give us a taste of artificial intelligence and future applications

给我印像深刻的还有刘予恩的演讲，他的演讲技巧显然高于其他选手，他用洪亮的声音带我们体验了人工智能以及未来应用。

Today’s speech competition not only gave us a chance to know about about science and technology, but also encouraged us to learn harder so as to gain more knowledge for the future study.

今天的演讲比赛不仅让我们了解到了当代科技的方方面面，也激励了我们刻苦学习文化知识，为未来建设我们的科技强国而奋斗。

初二2班高凡

This afternoon, an exciting speech competition  took  place at our school.

After everyone was seated, the host walked up to the platform and explained the rules. Everyone was quiet with a little excitement. The players came on stage one after another. The two speakers who impressed me most were Yilin and Aaron.

His speech was affecting and deeply touched our heart. It is about “the carbon fiber”. In his speech he raised two questions. “What is carbon fiber?” and “why it is it so popular?” First, carbon fiber is a new kind material of high strength and high modulus. Fiber material contains more than 95% of carbon. How strong is it? It is about 5 timesstronger than the steel but with very low weight. Carbon fiber is used to make bikes, sportscar and helmet. He vividly introduced the use of carbon fiber to us and gave us  some examples too.Another speaker that impressed me was Yilin. The moment she came onto stage, her face was full of smile.The impact of science and technology on us is not only positive but also negative. Modern technology has brought us much convenience, for example QR code and online shopping.

Not long ago, some scientists discovered “the Genome Editing”.But that could be a huge problem for the world.

Time flies. The competition is over soon. I have learned a lot from this meaningful activity. I’ learned not only about the modern science and technology, but also about the rapid development of the world. Hope we can have more this kind of activities.
